A man has undergone 30 cosmetic surgeries to look like the Puerto Rican singer and “Latin Pop God” Ricky Martin.
Francisco Mariano Javier Ibanez admitted that he has developed an addiction to cosmetic surgery during his repeated attempts to look like the Puerto Rican singer.
The man, from Benavidez, Argentina, has spent the equivalent of £7,290 on Ricky inspired surgery.
Francisco began on the cosmetic journey after someone told him he looked like the 70 million record-selling songster.
Chasing such beauty has come with another price tag for Francisco, who is now struggling to control his relationship with aesthetic procedures.
“I think that, at some point in your life, addiction develops and then gets worse,” he said.
“When I started to get operations, I knew that things were getting out of hand and that there were things that were not healthy for me.”
He also recently opened up about his past, describing his shame at being diagnosed as obese at 12.
For a year after the diagnosis he didn’t leave his room, he said, and that his overeating was a reaction to violence from his dad.
“I ate because I felt that the day my father wanted to kill me with a knife, he was not going to touch me because the fat was going to stop it, and he wasn’t going to be able to kill me,” Francisco said.
“I have been gay since I was a kid, and that was his greatest torture. I will never forget the day that he found me, I was combing my sister’s hair, and he grabbed an iron and broke it over my head.”
Today Francisco is a qualified ontological coach, specialising in neurosciences.
Back in 2018 he appeared on the Argentinian weight loss reality show ‘Cuestion de Peso’ (‘A Matter of Weight’), during which he lost over 90 kilogrammes.
