The director of the blockbuster film ‘Devil in Agbada,’ Umanu Ojochenemi Elijah, is on the rise after being delegated one of Nollywood’s best breakout directors in 2021.
Umanu was named one of Nollywood’s top breakout directors on a list published by FilmOne Ent, West Africa’s largest film distribution outlet, an award that has inspired the producer to work even harder than he already does.
Following the good news, Umanu Ojochenemi Elijah voiced his delight, saying that 2021 would be a walk in the park compared to what he has planned for this year.
Umanu says he has no intentions to slow down this year, and that in 2022, he will be shooting more back-to-back projects than ever before. He announced this while also revealing that he will release four blockbuster movies in 2022.
With considerable experience in cinematography, editing, and directing, Umanu Elijah is one of Africa’s most inventive and decorated filmmakers. He has a Birmingham Film Academy international degree in digital storytelling as well as a British Council degree in cinematic filmmaking.
Krystal Filmworks Limited, Nigeria’s foremost production powerhouse, was founded by him and boasts some of Nollywood’s most promising young filmmakers.
Umanu Elijah has been in a number of Nollywood blockbusters movies, including Devil in Agbada, Bitter Rain, Almajiri, Call to Bar by AY Makun, LOUD the movie, The Millions, Made In Heaven, Locked, and She Is, to name a few.
AMVCA, AFRIFF, Best of Nollywood Award, New York Film Festival, NTFF Berlin Germany, Sau Mauro Film Festival Italy, and others have recognized him with honors and medals.
