It is no surprise that the number of children out of school has increased. With the situation of the country and the path it is taking, it might get even worse. Children all over Nigeria have been out of school as many of them are fighting to eat regularly, talk more of paying school bills.

It is indeed disheartening to see the young generation that should be nurtured properly, going on the streets to find a means to survive. The Federal Ministry of Education recently released data on their recent study of the heartbreaking situation.

Bauchi takes the lead with over one million children out of school. Edo, still with a high number, comes in last. What can be done to fight this terrible situation that will eventually haunt us? If something isn’t done soon, we will all have to bear the consequences of neglecting these young ones.
